Free consulting services to help your existing or planned reception centre get ready for climate change.

The Canadian Urban Institute (CUI) and Federation of Prince Edward Island Municipalities (FPEIM) are inviting municipalities from across P.E.I. with plans to upgrade their reception centres to join the Climate Ready Infrastructure Service’s (CRIS) 2025 Reception Centre Program. Participants will receive free expert advice to increase your existing or planned reception centre’s climate resilience or energy efficiency.  

What You’ll Receive:  
  • Up to 60 hours of consulting services from a CRIS Roster Expert. The services may include:
    • Analysis of how climate change hazards may impact your reception centre.
    • 1 site visit to your facility to support the hazard analysis.
    • 1 kick-off webinar and 1 expert knowledge and results-sharing webinar.
  • A report that identifies customized options to improve your reception centre’s climate resilience or energy-efficiency.
  • Support in aligning your project with grant and other funding applications.  
Submission Criteria:

P.E.I. Municipalities or First Nations need to meet the following criteria: 

  1. Own, operate, manage, or have a partnership with a non-profit organization to manage a reception centre.
  2. Have a council-approved plan to do one of the following projects:
    • Build a new reception centre,
    • Retrofit a facility into a new reception centre, or
    • Upgrade an existing reception centre to improve energy efficiency, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, or increase the facility’s climate resilience.

This cohort is open to members of the Federation of P.E.I. Municipalities. P.E.I. Municipalities or First Nations need to meet the following criteria:

No. Participation in the CRIS Cohort program is fully funded through the Climate Ready Infrastructure Service (CRIS), delivered by the Canadian Urban Institute and funded by the Government of Canada.

This cohort will operate between October 2025 and March 2026. Participants should be prepared to: 

  • Attend a kickoff session (virtual, approx. 90 minutes)
  • Engage in one-on-one expert meetings (meet 2 times with expert to support expert technical analysis)
  • Participate in a wrap-up session (virtual, approx. 90 minutes)

All other work is completed directly between the municipality and their assigned expert. 

The entire cohort is delivered virtually to maximize flexibility and minimize time away from day-to-day operations.
